Reflexology

In Reflexology the whole body is represented on the feet in areas called reflexes. For example, the area under the little toe represents the shoulders, the neck is around the base of the big toe. Reflexology is the technique of applying pressure to the reflexes on the feet. Where areas are bumpy or slightly painful, this indicates an imbalance in the organ. By working areas that are bumpy or painful, your body can be returned to a state of balance.

Having a reflexology treatment is extremely pleasurable and it is thought the treatment encourages the body to release its own endorphins which create a great feeling of wellbeing.

Reflexology is also deeply deeply relaxing. By giving the body this "time out", the body's own healing processes are stimulated which can help your body return to a state of balance and well being. This can be further enhanced by choosing hot stone reflexology which uses hot basalt stones during the treatment and extends to massage of the lower legs.

Reflexology is especially helpful for anyone suffering from the effects of stress. Almost everyone reports the "best night's sleep they can remember" after having a treatment. For this reason most people can find Reflexology beneficial, although the people below may find Reflexology especially welcome:-

leaf Anyone suffering from the effects of the menopause
leaf Anyone who is currently in a particularly stressful situation.
leaf Anyone suffering from a stress related disorder. Stress commonly manifests itself as:-
leaf IBS
leaf Insomnia
leaf Headaches
leaf Muscle tension
leaf Everyone for a monthly healthy time-out.

On your first visit brief details will be taken about your medical history and stress factors to ensure the treatment is adapted especially for you.

Treatment takes place on a couch which provides a comfortable resting place and elevates your feet. You only need to remove your shoes and socks. During the treatment there may be discomfort in some places, but it is fleeting, and is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. For the most part, the sensation is pleasant, soothing and deeply relaxing. Many people fall asleep during a treatment. The treatment lasts just under an hour.
